The Bath Brew

History of The Herbal Bath

Water therapy (commonly known as hydrotherapy) derives from Ancient Egypt and Babylon. Submerging your body in water is thought to relieve muscle tension and mental stress. Some say adding herbs to the bath may help eliminate physical and emotional tiredness and promote spiritual rejuvenation.

With a proper herbal mixture, bath tea can be quite relaxing to the mind, body and spirit.

Bathing With Herbs & Aromatherapy

Introducing a properly balanced herbal/essential oil infusion into your bathing ritual has the potential to improve your mood and overall mental health.

For instance, lavender is widely known as a relaxing and soothing flower. When combined with warm water, the aroma intensifies and increases its therapeutic value.

Here's a quick and simple bath tea formula you can try at home:

Fields of Love Bath Tea Recipe

1 Tablespoon of Dried Lavender Buds

1 Tablespoon of Dried Rose Buds

4 drops of Bulgarian Lavender Essential Oil

1 drop of Peppermint Essential Oil

10 inch square of muslin clothe or cotton material

Hemp Twine

Directions:

Open the clothe and lay diagonally on a flat surface.  Place the dried lavender buds, dried rose buds and drops of essential oil in the middle of the clothe.  Gather the opposite corners until all four are between your fingers. Tie off tightly with a bit of hemp twine.  Run a warm bath and once the tub is half full, add the herbal pouch and steep for 5 mins.  Climb in and exhale.
